The Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara is seated in the Vajra posture, adorned with celestial robes, silks, and precious ornaments representing all his enlightened qualities.
He has one head representing the absolute nature of all things.
He is seated in the Vajra posture representing the oneness of samsara and nirvana.
The white lotus throne represents compassion.
The animal skin robe on his shoulders represents his vow to enter the world and help all living beings.
He smiles compassionately with understanding in equal love.
His eyes are filled with compassion as he looks toward all living beings.
The four arms represent the Four Immeasurable Minds (Loving-Kindness, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity).
The Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara is the Buddha of immeasurable compassion, the embodiment of his realization of the Four Immeasurable Minds or the skillful means by which he saves all living beings.
